ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash yesterday. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of President Raisi, the Foreign Minister, and others who perished in the accident.

President Zardari praised President Raisi’s unwavering commitment to the Muslim Ummah, noting his relentless efforts to promote unity among Muslims. He emphasized that the Islamic World has lost an extraordinary leader who consistently championed the Muslim cause and empathized with the suffering of Muslims worldwide, especially the Palestinian and Kashmiri people.

“Today, Pakistan mourns the loss of a great friend. Last month, we were honored to host President Raisi in Pakistan. During our meetings, it was clear he was passionate about strengthening our bilateral ties. Agha Raisi always held a special regard for Pakistan and its people, regardless of his position, whether as President of Iran or as Custodian of Imam Raza’s (A.S) Shrine,” President Zardari said. He described Raisi’s death as a significant loss for both Iran and the entire Muslim Ummah.

President Zardari remarked that President Raisi’s efforts to enhance relations with regional and Islamic countries will be remembered fondly in Iran, Pakistan, and across the Islamic World.

“May Allah Almighty bless his soul and grant patience and strength to his family and the people of Iran during this time of immense loss,” prayed the President.
