Islamabad: President Dr. Arif Alvi has summoned a joint session of the Parliament on Thursday (October 6) at 5 pm.
The President House said Tuesday that the President will address the joint session of both houses of the parliament – Senate and the National Assembly. The president has summoned the session under Article 54 (1) and (56 (3).
It has been less than a year that President Alvi’s party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) quit the parliament, protesting an alleged regime change conspiracy that culminated at the ouster of his party from the power corridors. Since then, the PTI, under the leadership of party chairman Imran Khan is among the public through public rallies, divulging how the then opposition parties ‘managed’ his ouster.
For the last few weeks, President Alvi has been busy in bringing both the ruling alliance and the PTI closer so that they could chalk out a strategy to decrease political tension. However, he has met little success. The President will be addressing the parliament amid a tense political situation as the PTI has been forcefully demanding date for snap polls in the country.
