MOSCOW: The Russian president Vladimir Putin has agreed to visit China in October accepting the invitation of his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.
Western media reported on Tuesday that Putin would participate in China’s Belt and Road Forum in October.
Schedule for Russian-Chinese contacts being worked out
Meanwhile, the Kremlin has stated that a schedule for bilateral Russian-Chinese contacts is being worked out.
The Russian President has not been seen in major international events such as BRICS summit in South Africa and meeting of the China-Russia-led economic bloc.
This would will be his first visit outside Russian or allied countries after the International Criminal Court issued his arrest warrants.
Putin’s visit to China will be coming months after Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Moscow in March. During Xi’s trip to Moscow, the two countries declared themselves as close friends.

Putin has been very active during last months as he thwarted a mutiny from the Wagner mercenary group earlier this summer. The Wagner group’s leader, Yevgeny Prigozhin, died in a plane crash last week while going to Belarus.
President Xi Jinping while talking to BRICS Business Forum had said that China was not interested in “major-power competition”. He added China pursues an independent foreign policy of peace and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
