ISLAMABAD: On National Minorities’ Day, President Asif Ali Zardari affirmed the commitment of Pakistan to uphold the political, economic, and social rights of its minority communities.
In his address, he highlighted the constitutional guarantees made to minorities, echoing the promises of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah from August 11, 1947, which ensure protection of religious freedoms and minority rights.
Zardari emphasized the government’s ongoing efforts to empower minorities, noting various initiatives aimed at enhancing their political and social participation. He called on all sectors of society to promote awareness about these rights and to foster interfaith harmony, love, tolerance, and unity to strengthen Pakistan.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also extended his best wishes to minority communities, acknowledging their significant contributions across various fields. Similarly, the Armed Forces of Pakistan, including the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and the Services Chiefs, recognized the essential role of minorities in the nation’s progress and cultural heritage. They praised the diversity, inclusivity, and harmonious coexistence that minorities contribute to Pakistan’s social fabric.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) emphasized that minorities are integral to Pakistan’s identity and development. They stressed that the rights and freedoms of minority communities, as guaranteed by the Constitution and Islam, are crucial. The ISPR celebrated the contributions of minorities throughout Pakistan’s history, affirming their role in nation-building and cultural enrichment.
National Minorities’ Day serves as a reminder of Pakistan’s dedication to protecting and promoting the rights of its minority populations, honoring their contributions to the nation’s unity and progress.
