ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President, Dr. Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have strongly condemned an attack on policemen in Northwest Pakistan on Sunday.
The President vowed that they would continue efforts to completely eliminate the remnants of terrorism and extremism from the country. He expressed sympathies with the families of the victims and prayed for the high ranks of the departed souls. The President also prayed for the early recovery of the wounded.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the entire nation saluted the huge sacrifices of policemen in their fight against terrorism. He paid tribute to the huge sacrifices of the police personnel, and said that terrorists were the open enemies of Pakistan and the nation.
He added “Those who have been protecting the country against terrorists are our heroes,” PM Office said on Sunday. He further said that elimination of militants, their supporters and facilitators had been the top priority. The prime minister urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government to provide Shuhada package to the families of martyred policemen.
Northwest Pakistan
Earlier, at least four policemen were killed and four others wounded as terrorists attacked a police station in Lakki Marwat district in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Police said that a fierce exchange of fire also took place between the police and terrorists during the attack.
Following the incident in the country’s Northwest, Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan condemned the attack and sought a report over the matter. The Chief Minister also issued directives to officials to provide the best medical aid to the wounded policemen.
