ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both strongly condemned the shocking attack on former US President Donald Trump during an election rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his dismay over the incident, calling it a “shocking development” and extending his wishes for Trump’s swift recovery and good health. “I condemn all violence in politics. Wish the former President swift recovery and good health,” he wrote.

President Asif Ali Zardari echoed these sentiments, stating that he was deeply shocked to hear about the attack on the former US President and emphasizing that there is no place for violence in politics. He expressed his best wishes for Trump’s speedy recovery.

The attack occurred while Trump was addressing supporters at the rally. CNN reported that Trump sustained injuries, with visible blood on his right ear and the right side of his face. The Secret Service swiftly intervened, evacuating Trump from the scene and canceling the rally.

In a post on his Truth Social platform following the incident, Trump disclosed, “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. Much bleeding took place.” Despite this ordeal, Trump’s campaign assured the public that he is “doing well.”

President Joe Biden also joined in condemning the attack, emphasizing, “There’s no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”

The incident has sparked widespread concern and condemnation both domestically and internationally, highlighting the need for heightened security measures in political settings.
