Uzbekistan’s President Proposes Enhance Collaboration
Given the emergence of new challenges, President Mirziyoyev emphasized the necessity of a collective quest for comprehensive and well-considered solutions. This is particularly pertinent in light of the escalating water scarcity in the region, which has intensified in recent times.
The President of Uzbekistan proposed intensified collaboration in various domains, including the introduction of advanced water-saving technologies, modernization of irrigation systems, digitalization of water management processes, and joint infrastructure development for mudflow and floodwater collection and storage.
“In addressing these issues, the full potential of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea should be harnessed, alongside cooperation through partner organizations and entities such as the World Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank,” stated President Mirziyoyev.
Regarding the energy sector, President Mirziyoyev highlighted the established and productive cooperation between Central Asian countries, particularly in energy supply and transit. In line with green economy objectives, joint hydro and thermal energy projects have been initiated.
Special emphasis was placed on the creation of an integrated transport infrastructure, including the Uzbekistan – Turkmenistan – Iran corridor, and the utilization of the Trans-Caspian route. The President suggested that these initiatives would enhance Central Asia’s status as a pivotal transit hub for international corridors, both East-West and North-South.
He recommended joint efforts to foster favorable conditions for international carriers, accelerate digitalization, and enhance checkpoint throughput.
The summit also emphasized the importance of harmonizing efforts and endorsing the initiatives presented by the region’s nations on a global platform, particularly within the framework of the United Nations.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev concluded by reaffirming Uzbekistan’s commitment to support peace, stability, and prosperity initiatives for the Central Asian region, signaling the country’s determination to contribute to the advancement of regional well-being and collaboration.
