ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi has called on businessmen to prioritize the protection of workers’ rights, emphasizing the significance of honesty, ethics, and compassion in trade and business practices.
Speaking at an event organized by the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday, President Alvi highlighted the need for a responsible approach to ensure the well-being of workers and the ethical conduct of business activities.
In his address, President Alvi stressed the importance of encouraging and involving women in businesses, emphasizing that society has a collective responsibility to protect them from harassment. By promoting inclusivity and providing a safe working environment, businesses can contribute to fostering gender equality and empowering women in the economic sphere.
Additionally, the President urged businessmen to give due consideration to environmental protection, recognizing the role of businesses in sustainable and eco-friendly practices. Environmental responsibility, according to President Alvi, should be a priority for businesses to contribute positively to the well-being of society and the planet.
President Alvi also addressed the issue of tax compliance, calling on the affluent class to fulfill their tax obligations. He emphasized that tax contributions from the business community are essential to address various challenges faced by the country, including ensuring access to education for out-of-school children and tackling issues such as malnutrition.
