LAHORE: Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi said on Saturday revealed that talks are underway to end the ongoing political deadlock in the country.
During his meeting with senior journalists at the Governor House in Lahore, President Alvi maintained he is trying to improve relations between the PTI chief Imran Khan and the establishment.
The president said there is no harm in holding consultations on appointing the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
President Alvi said it would be better if elections were held soon, and the discussions should be for the stability of democratic institutions. “I keep on conveying messages,” he said. He said that the constitution allows him to take a vote of confidence, but he is not in this position.
“I do not do anything after consulting with PTI chairman Imran Khan, adding that the former PM is an old friend and I consider him a leader.”
