KARACHI: President Dr. Arif Alvi urged Pakistani students to learn and apply artificial intelligence to compete in the modern era of information technology (IT).
The President said that there was ample space in the IT field that Pakistani youth could fill up to contribute to the country’s economic prosperity.
The President expressed these views while addressing Saturday’s ” Traditional & Non-Traditional Security Imperatives for Pakistan ” conference at the University of Karachi.
President Alvi stated that to establish a balanced and healthy society, people should have basic health and education facilities.
He underscored the need to prioritize our decisions while making decisions in daily life or policy-making “We must keep social and societal problems, needs, and attitudes in mind.”
President Alvi calls for population control
President Alvi said there were 9 million births in Pakistan each year, 50 percent of which were unintentional. Through proper planning, information, and provision of required facilities, the increasing population could be controlled; however, it was also possible to solve women’s health problems who suffer during pregnancy.
The President stated that the natural resources alone were insufficient for a country’s prosperity, but natural and intellectual resources were important to utilize them efficiently.
“As a nation, nature has blessed us with enormous abilities, but due to a lack of proper utilization of these resources and abilities. In the race for progress and development in every field of life, we have fallen behind our neighbouring countries,” he further added.
President Arif Alvi applauded the Pakistani government’s and the public’s efforts and the way they fought COVID-19 smartly.
President Alvi stated that democracy was the best way to strengthen the country. He appealed to the participants to actively participate in the politics of the country to bring change with their votes.
The Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Khalid M. Iraqi, the Chairperson of International Relations Karachi University, Dr. Shaista Tabasum, and Executive Director CISSS Ambassador Qazi Khalilullah also spoke on the occasion and shared their knowledge with the participants on the subject.
