ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Monday urged all political leaders of Pakistan to “show magnanimity by burying their bitterness and come forward for the country’s progress and prosperity.”

President Dr Arif Alvi said this while addressing the Paigham-e-Islam Conference as the chief guest. Several ambassadors, ulema, parliamentarians, and scholars attended the event.

In his speech, President Alvi emphasized that Pakistan was once a fast-developing country in the region, but now other countries were leading the path which required serious retrospection. He called on political leaders to emulate the quality of forgiveness taught in the holy month of Ramazan in the face of prevailing challenges faced by the country.

The President expressed concern over the macabre aggression and violence unleashed on the innocent people of Indian, Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine. He added that the danger of genocide was lurking over the Muslims in India, as mosques were being demolished with suppressed religious identity and freedom.

President Alvi stresses for teaching Islamic values

President Alvi stressed upon teaching certain Islamic values to the coming generations, including the supreme quality of forgiveness, adding that our Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) was an embodiment of this quality who forgave all his tormentors.

He also lauded the role of the leadership of Saudi Arabia in resuming ties with Iran. Earlier, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Said Al-Malki highlighted the significance of fraternal, historical, and brotherly ties between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan. Malki said that both countries had been working closely to further strengthen their mutual cooperation in diverse fields, including trade and investment.

The President concluded by saying that it was indeed a hard time for the Muslim Ummah; however, he was optimistic that through cooperation, collective efforts, and unity, they would overcome all these challenges. He regretted that mankind had not learnt from its bitter experiences of wrangling and tussles and emphasized that the teachings of the Holy Quran were eternal in nature, which provided guidance to human beings.

President Alvi’s call for political leaders to unite for Pakistan’s progress and prosperity is an important message in these difficult times. The country needs strong leadership and cooperation from all political parties to overcome the challenges it faces.
