ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi on Thursday paid homage to the martyrs of Guyana, where 20 innocent school children lost their lives in a fire in their hostel.
He said in a Twitter message, “Every death involving innocent children is a terrible tragedy. We regret the loss of 20 schoolchildren in a fire in their hostel in Mahida, Guyana—our heartfelt sympathies to the families of the deceased, the Government of Guyana, and its people.
Around 19 children died on Monday in a fire that broke out in a hostel at a school located in central Guyana. The school largely served nearby Indigenous communities.
