Preparations Finalised to Observe Kashmir Solidarity Day: Kaira

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Qamar Zaman Kaira said on Saturday that his ministry has finalised preparations to mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5 to express support for the oppressed people of the Illegally Occupied Indian Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

In a statement, he said that on the day, special messages from the prime minister and the president of Pakistan will be broadcast on various media platforms. He said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would travel to Muzaffarabad to address the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly.

He said that Pakistan Television and other networks would telecast documentaries exposing Indian atrocities and tyranny in IIOJK.

He said that social media would be utilised to mobilise to divert the international community’s attention to put pressure on India to end its atrocities against the defenceless people of Kashmir.

Kaira stated that private television channels and FM radios have also committed to covering events that would be held across the country to mark solidarity day.

He said that overseas Pakistanis would also show their support for the Kashmiri people during this difficult period.

Preparations for Kashmir Solidarity day 

He said that a solidarity walk will also be held in front of the Parliament House, and a minute of silence would be observed to honour the Kashmiri martyrs who gave their lives to defend their homeland.

He said that the Capital Development Authority had already put up banners on several thoroughfares, including on the Islamabad Expressway.
