Preliminary GCC-Pakistan FTA Reflects Significance of Strengthening Trade Ties with Nations, Blocs: GCC

RIYADH: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi has said that the preliminary free trade agreement between Pakistan and the GCC comes in recognition of the significance of strengthening trade ties and economic cooperation with nations and international blocs, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.

He expressed the statement during a signing ceremony of the preliminary FTA between Pakistan and GCC, with the agreement being inked by both the GCC Secretary General and Pakistan’s Commerce Minister, Dr. Gohar Ejaz in Riyadh, the SPA said.

The GCC head noted that this historic economic deal represents a significant turning point in cooperation and would contribute to growth and prosperity in a way that serves the common interests of both sides, as it emphasizes the vital significance of close cooperation between nations to strengthen economic ties.

Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi said that the GCC nations are proceeding with free-trade talks with other countries, aiming to open and enhance the prospects for economic and trade cooperation for the council member nations regionally and globally.

The Secretary General of GCC also voiced his thanks and appreciation to the GCC teams and the General Secretariat for their efforts and dedication during the negotiation process, the SPA said.
