ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has served a show cause notice to senior leader Latif Khosa for representing and defending the PTI Chairman without obtaining prior consent from his own party’s leadership.
The notice, sent by PPP’s Secretary General Nayyar Bokhari, did not explicitly mention the name of the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) but made reference to Khosa’s defense of the head of another political party.
The notice said that this action was taken because Khosa provided legal defense for the political leader in corruption cases in which the leader had already been convicted.
During a speech delivered at a lawyers’ convention in Islamabad on Thursday, Khosa also voiced criticism state’s policy related to classified information.
Khosa has been granted a seven-day period to respond to the show cause notice, during which he must provide a satisfactory explanation for his actions.
The notice read that failure to provide a satisfactory answer within the specified time could lead to termination of party membership.
It’s worth noting that Khosa is also a part of PTI Chairman’s legal team and represents him in several significant cases, including the cipher case and the lawyer murder case.
