ISLAMABAD: Pope Francis on Sunday condemned a resurgence in violence in the Middle East, calling on both sides in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to engage in a sincere search for peace.
Pope said after his traditional Angelus prayer in St. Peter’s Square that the death spiral that surges day by day only closed the few glimmers of trust that exists between the two sides.
He was talking after the recent killing of ten Palestinians, including a woman, murdered in an Israeli forces’ raid on a refugee camp in the West Bank, and the attack on Friday by a Palestinian gunman that claimed seven lives outside a synagogue in east Jerusalem.
Pope said that since the start of the year, dozens of Palestinians have been dead in clashes with Israeli forces.
