Pope urges for dialogue between Israel and Palestine amid rising violence

VATICAN CITY: Pope Francis has called for dialogue between Israel and Palestine after rising tensions, saying violence is killing the future.

While speaking to tens of thousands in St. Peter’s Square for his Sunday blessing, Francis said violence kills the future for both.

On Tuesday night, Israeli forces shot and killed a 16-year-old Palestinian boy during clashes in the Israeli-occupied West Bank city of Nablus. The Pope spoke about the incident and expressed concern about the increased violence in recent months.

“Violence kills the future, disrupts the lives of the smallest and destroys hope for peace. Let us pray for these young people who died and their families, especially for their mothers,” he said.

“I hope that the Israeli and Palestinian authorities will seek more sincere dialogue, building trust, without this there will be no solution for peace in the Holy Land,” he said.
