LAHORE:  Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice-President and chief organizer Maryam Nawaz has reacted over Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan’s announcement of leading a rally in Lahore on Sunday and said that who wait for the dead bodies is called ‘vulture’ and not a politician.

In a statement via her Twitter account, she said, “Who wait for dead bodies is called a vulture, not a politician. Politics over dead bodies have been exposed”.

Earlier, Imran Khan announced that he would lead PTI’s election rally in person on Sunday at 2 pm in Lahore. In a televised address, he invited the PTI party workers and supporters to prepare for tomorrow’s rally. The former Prime Minister said he would lead the rally tomorrow so that the coalition parties know the number of people standing by his side.

This would be the first rally that Khan would lead in more than four months as he was mobilizing the party from his Zaman Park residence in Punjab’s capital. The PTI chief had been at home as he was “recovering” from an injury he sustained last year.

Khan was shot in the legs on November 3 as he waved to crowds from a truck-mounted container while leading a protest march to Islamabad to pressure the government into announcing an early election.

Imran Khan slammed the authorities for “killing” his party worker. He demanded the Chief Justice (CJ) of the Lahore High Court (LHC) form a judicial commission on Zill-e-Shah’s murder and decide the case. He also demanded the resignations of CCPO Lahore, IG Punjab, and caretaker Chief Minister Punjab.

Imran Khan alleged that PTI worker Ali Bilal Aka Zill-e-Shah was assassinated in police torture. The post-mortem report had revealed everything, but the case was registered against him, Khan added. He said that Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police Usman Anwar had earlier said that it was a murder, but today he claimed it was an accident.

Imran Khan vows to continue struggle for rights

Imran Khan said that PTI supporters were being assassinated, for their peaceful participation in protests and rallies, after the regime was changed. He said that several such workers had been killed. He reminded that one worker was killed in Lahore, one on Attock Bridge, and recently Bilal was assassinated in police torture.

The PTI chief said that Maryam Nawaz’s leaked audio has also proved PTI’s claim that Zill-e-Shah’s assassination was being covered up. He said that Zill-e-Shah was taken in a police van under custody, and his dead body was thrown on the road. He said that his dead body had several injuries apart from his liver rupture.

He vowed to continue the fight for his rights and maintained that every attempt was being made to get him out of the way. He said that PTI was being stopped from carrying out a political campaign for elections, and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) was doing nothing.

Demanding ECP play their role against the continued fascism against PTI. He said he had called off PTI’s long march to Islamabad for the first time to avoid a law and order situation.

Imran Khan said that the judiciary is under massive pressure, but it was time to stand for the rule of law in the country. He said that PML-N was targeting the judiciary, but PTI has never done any such thing and accepted all verdicts.
