ISLAMABAD: Amid a political and constitutional turmoil in the wake of elections in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Prime minister Shehbaz Sharif has summoned a meeting of the federal cabinet tomorrow (Thursday) to discuss the political situation in the country as legal battle at the supreme court enters a new phase.
According to the sources, the meeting would discuss the political situation after the supreme court formed an eight-member bench to take up the controversial Supreme Court bill and also summoned the officials of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and finance ministry after the government didn’t release funds for Punjab polls.
The government has been contesting the top courts efforts to holds elections in Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, saying it lacks funds and security personnel for the same.
