QUETTA: Police on the protection detail of the polio team came under attack in Killi Qambrani, Quetta on Saturday.
This is the third attack during the week as the two before claimed three lives.
The recent incidents have resulted in the government issuing directives to all police personnel guarding polio teams to be extra vigilant.
A police officer stated, “There was no injury, polio team and the police personnel remained safe. The police returned fire as it came under attack.”
“The armed attack was carried on motorcycles and one of the assailants was injured who was carried away by his accomplices.”
Chief Minister Balochistan Ziaullah Lango has stated that government will take steps for the protection of polio workers.
