ISLAMABAD: A special anti-polio campaign kicked off on Monday in nine districts of Punjab.
During the special drive, 6.3 million children aged up to five years will be given vaccines to boost their immunity against the crippling virus.
A seven-day campaign will continue in high-risk districts including in Rawalpindi, Lahore and Faisalabad, while a five-day drive will be carried out in Sialkot, Multan, Mianwali, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.
Punjab Health Minister Dr Akhtar Malik Sumbal and Chief Secretary Abdullah Khan presided over a meeting to review the dengue situation and the anti-polio drive.
The Punjab chief secretary said that the continuation of collective efforts was necessary to eradicate polio and dengue. He orders the deputy commissioners to make the anti-polio campaign a success.
