TRENTON, United States: Three people were killed in two shootings in suburban Philadelphia on Saturday, and the suspect fled and holed up in a home in Trenton, New Jersey, police and local authorities said.
Andre Gordon, 26, believed to be homeless, stole a vehicle and killed two people at a home in Levittown, Falls Township City, authorities said. The victims were a 52-year-old stepmother and a 13-year-old sister.
Jennifer Schorn, Bucks County district attorney told media that three people in the house managed to hide as he went through the house searching for them.
The suspect then went to another nearby residence where he shot and killed a woman with her two children before beating the woman’s mother with the butt of the gun.
They then drove to a nearby discount store parking lot, stole a 44-year-old man’s Honda, and fled the scene. Falls Sheriff Nelson Whitney said the man was not injured.
The suspect then drove across the state line to Trenton, New Jersey, where he was barricaded in a home and is currently surrounded by police officers trying to contact him.
Those in the home at the time were rescued safely and uninjured, said Detective Lieutenant Lisette Rios with the Trenton police department.
The suspect appeared to be carrying an AR-15-style assault rifle and police described him as “very dangerous,” Whitney said.
Federal authorities, including the FBI, are cooperating in the case because the suspect crossed state lines, Whitney added.
Residents in the area where the initial shooting took place were told to shelter in place, and that order was lifted three hours later.
