Police seize tanker filled with Iranian diesel

KARACHI: Karachi police have prevented an attempt to bring in Iranian diesel worth Rs9.6 million into the city.

During an operation in the city’s Orangi Town neighbourhood, the police seized an oil tanker with 31,000 gallons of Iranian fuel valued at Rs9.6 million.

Muhammad Qasim and Muhammad Yaseen, according to DIG Fida Mastoi, have been detained and turned over to Pakistan Customs officials.

Anwaarul Haq Kakar, the caretaker prime minister (PM), gave orders to law enforcement on Friday to strictly crack down on the smuggling of goods like sugar, urea, petroleum products, and other agricultural products.

The caretaker premier gave the orders while presiding over a high-level meeting on border smuggling control.

Caretaker Gohar Ejaz, the federal minister for trade, was joined at the meeting by the interior minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, the petroleum minister Muhammad Ali, the advisor to the prime minister Ahmed Cheema, federal secretaries, the head of the federal board of revenue, and senior members of law enforcement agencies.
