NAPLES, Italy: Italian police successfully captured two dangerous fugitives, including Gaetano Angrisano, a notorious member of a powerful clan in Naples.
Angrisano, previously sentenced to 10 years for drug trafficking, had eluded authorities for 18 months and was on the interior ministry’s “100 most dangerous fugitives” list.
The well-coordinated operation unfolded at a social housing complex where Angrisano was attending a party. Approximately 250 policemen strategically surrounded the location, ensuring a seamless operation that led to his capture.
The arrest highlights law enforcement’s determination to apprehend high-profile criminals and addresses challenges posed by organized crime.
In a separate but equally significant operation, Italian police arrested a 52-year-old man in Torvaianica, just south of Rome.
This individual, sentenced to over 20 years in prison for mafia association, arms, and drugs dealing, was a notable figure in the organized crime landscape in Salento during the early 2000s. His apprehension occurred while shopping at a supermarket, showcasing the effectiveness of ongoing efforts to combat organized crime.
These successful arrests underscore the commitment to enhancing public safety and dismantling criminal networks operating within Italy. The dual victories demonstrate the dedication and strategic capabilities of Italian law enforcement in tackling high-profile criminal cases.
