ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s capital police have urged educational institutions in Islamabad to join hands for the elimination of drugs, violent extremism, and illegal activities at institutions.
Police letter to eradicate drugs from institutions
Islamabad Police Inspector-General Akbar Nisar Khan has written a letter to all universities in Islamabad to inform them about the illegal activities of drug supply and use and extremism at educational organizations.
A statement issued by the Islamabad police department said that two letters of the same nature were sent to the educational institutes earlier.
In the letter, the Islamabad police chief has also directed station house officers of six police stations in Islamabad to start a crackdown on drug dealers in their respective areas to choke the supply of drugs to educational institutions, as suppliers target the youngsters, mostly studying in universities and elite schools and colleges, where money is not a issue for the students.
The police letter said that due to the free and easy access to campus and the premises of learning institutions of drug dealers, drug use has seen a spike in the recent past.
The police letter said that preventive and proactive measures can help curb these illegal practices and heads of all educational organizations must cooperate with the police in this regard.
