WARSAW: Poland’s Prime Minister said on Wednesday that they would be ready to provide Kyiv with F-16 fighter jets if the decision was taken together with all Western allies.

Fighter Jets and conflict in Ukraine

In an interview with German media, the Prime Minister of Poland said that if this was a decision of the entire NATO, they would be for sending these fighter jets. Morawiecki said, “My calculation is based on what NATO nations decide together”.

The Polish leader said that European allies should coordinate any supply of jets as this is a very serious conflict and Poland and Nato are not taking part in this war, saying that the decision needed the strategic deliberation of the entire Western alliance”.

Western nations only recently approved sending battle tanks to Kyiv, but Ukraine is already requesting the US-made F-16 warplanes to help repel the Russian attack.

The US has ruled out any deliveries of F-16s to Kyiv for now, but other allies have shown themselves more open to the idea of sending jets.

Slovakia said it would be prepared to provide Russian-made MiG-29 jets, while Dutch political leaders recently floated the idea of sending Kyiv the F-16 jets it wants. The decision to provide battle tanks came following months of lobbying from Ukraine and weeks of intense debates among Western nations.
