RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Navy reached a significant milestone with the Launching Ceremony of the state-of-the-art 4th Offshore Patrol Vessel, PNS YAMAMA (Desig) at M/s DAMEN Shipyard Galati, Romania.
Vice Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ovais Ahmed Bilgrami graced the occasion as Chief Guest, emphasizing the critical role of maritime security amidst evolving threats in the Indian Ocean Region.
In his address, Vice Admiral Bilgrami highlighted Pakistan Navy’s pivotal role in maintaining safe sea lanes vital for global trade. He expressed confidence that the induction of these multipurpose platforms, equipped with cutting-edge weapons and sensors, will bolster PN Fleet’s combat capability, ensuring maritime security in the Arabian Sea and beyond.
Chief Operations Officer of M/s DAMEN Group Netherlands reaffirmed the longstanding partnership between DAMEN Shipyard and Pakistan Navy, dating back to 1986. He pledged continued delivery of cost-effective, technologically advanced vessels to meet PN’s operational needs.
The ceremony saw the presence of dignitaries from the Romanian Government and Navy, alongside representatives from Pakistan Navy, M/s DAMEN, and the Pakistani community in Romania, underlining the significance of this collaboration in enhancing Pakistan’s maritime defence capabilities.
