ISLAMABAD: In remembrance of legendary artist Sadeqauin, the Visual Arts Division of Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) will hold an exhibition on the works of Sadequain, along with a documentary screening here on Friday (10 February).
The documentary titled “Raaz-e-Fun” will be screened in collaboration with Sadequain Foundation USA to commemorate 36th death anniversary of the legendary artist.
The gathering is to pay tribute to the artworks and life of Sadequain. The paintings on display are from the collection of the National Art Gallery. The artist gifted over 100 artworks to the PNCA during his lifetime.
In the past, Sadequain has been the subject of numerous documentaries by institutions such as PTV’s 13-episode serial titled Mojiza-e-Fun, PNCA, GEO TV, and others, but Raaz-e-Fun has surpassed all its predecessors in its tone and tenor.

PNCA to Display work of Sadequain
The 30-minute documentary is written, narrated, and directed by eminent award-winning director and writer Waseem Amrohavi, who takes the viewer on a blissful odyssey traversing Sadequain’s initial forays into poetry and calligraphy at a young age, then later in life focusing on painting and his meteoric rise on the world stage. The film narrated that even before the advent of social media, computers even television, Sadequain’s talent was recognized on all five continents.
PNCA has supported promoting exhibits and the best modern and contemporary art on the National and International level.
PNCA was set up to lead the development of arts in the country. The council aims to build an environment suitable for the flourishing of the arts, where the arts are accessible to all and sundry and artists and art groups have the commitment, financial backing, and resources to excel at home, and on the world stage, remarked by Director General PNCA, Ayub Jamali while talking to APP.
Sadequain, who became a legend during his life, created the illustrations of Mirza Ghalib in 1968, Faiz Ahmad Faiz during the 1970s and 80s, and Allama Iqbal in the 1980s. Sadequain had a subtle interest in the issues that have challenged the best minds of the human race, the meaning of life, the mysteries of the universe, freedom and self-determination, survival, progress, and role of human beings.
The film features 13 Murals (illustrations/interpretations) of Allam Iqbal’s poetry, visual references from two of his monumental Murals, along with 12 illustrations and oil on canvas on the poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz.
The exhibition is a move to keep alive the legacy, celebrate the efforts of the legendary artist in a befitting manner, and let the masses know about the rich cultural heritage and contributions of the masters of the field for keeping alive our heritage, DG PNCA said.
