ISLAMABAD: The top-level stakeholders’ summit in Dubai is not deliberating on seat adjustments or electoral alliances for the polls, but it aims to bring a unified strategy to address the aftermath of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan’s fallout.
The stalwarts of both the Pakistan Muslim League-N and the Pakistan Peoples Party have engaged in closed-door, off-camera meetings to discuss various options to manage and contain the public sentiments and the absence of any destabilizing factor that could undermine civilian governance, a local TV reported on Wednesday.
Imran Khan’s Ouster from Power
Ever since his ouster from power on 22 April through a vote of no confidence in the National Assembly, Imran Khan has witnessed a remarkable surge in support, especially in urban areas.
The resurged support has triggered a series of consultations between the PML-N, PPP, and leaders of other parties with the main objective of strategizing a response in the event of Imran Khan’s conviction and possible disqualification.
Another purpose of the huddle is to play a positive role in democratic and financial stability. All parties involved are willing to ignore internal differences and interests to deal with the national challenge before them.
The narrative presented by former prime minister Imran Khan has now become the main point of the vast military-led investigation into 9 May events.
On that day, PTI workers and Imran Khan’s supporters rampaged through over 200 military installations across the country, leaving behind a trail of desecrated symbols of the martyrs.
These violent protests occurred after Imran Khan’s arrest by paramilitary forces, as he faced corruption investigations linked 190 million pounds scam.
