LAHORE: Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif presided a high-level meeting of senior leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) on the formation of government both at the federal level and in Punjab, the country’s largest province.
The meeting took place in Lahore city following the near-complete announcement of results from the general elections held on February 8 according to which PML-N managed to secure 73 seats out of total 266 seats.
The meeting was attended by key figures within the PML(N) ranks, including Senator Ishaq Dar, Khawaja Saad Rafique, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Maryam Aurangzeb, Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ataullah Tarar, and Khwaja Imran Nazir.
Shahbaz Sharif provided a comprehensive briefing, delineating directives received from party’s supremo Muhammad Nawaz Sharif concerning engagements with various political entities. Discussions were held on an array of strategies and options for the formation of a viable government.
