ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is reportedly considering Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman’s demands following contacts between the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) and the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), media reported on Tuesday.
Media reports said that the discussions between the two former allied parties have raised concerns within the PML-N, prompting the party leadership to contemplate Fazl-ur-Rehman’s requests. A majority of party members are of the opinion that the PML-N should forge an electoral alliance with the JUI-F instead of pursuing collaboration with any other party.
Nawaz Sharif has called for suggestions from the party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leadership on this matter within the next two days, as per media reports. According to media reports, a PML-N leader is expected to reach out to Fazl-ur-Rehman in the coming days to discuss political issues.
The PML-N, PPP, and JUI were allies and part of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) coalition government after the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder chairman Imran Khan was ousted from power through a vote of no-confidence by the parliamentary opposition in April of the previous year.
