ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) has announced a sub-office in Gilgit-Baltistan to facilitate doctors and students pursuing medical education as a profession.

Federal Minister for Health Abdul Qadir Patel was to inaugurate the sub-office in Gilgit city on Wednesday (today) but he could not make it to the region after the inclement weather led to the cancellation of the flight.
In a press statement, a spokesperson for the health ministry said that “this is great news for doctors of Gilgit-Baltistan. Now they will no longer have to go to Islamabad to solve their problems”.
He said that Federal Health Minister Abdul Qadir Patel was determined to give relief to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan in real sense, and “the problems of doctors of Gilgit-Baltistan will now be solved at their own doorstep.”

“We believe in practical work and efficiency, doctors hold the status of Messiah in our society, therefore, addressing their problems on a priority basis is our primary objective,” the spokesperson said while quoting the health minister as saying.
