ISLAMABAD: The matter of out-of-syllabus questions in the recently-held Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) has been reviewed by Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC).
Students have mixed reactions as some appreciate the decision of PMC to grant grace marks to compensate for the out-of-syllabus questions in MDCAT. In contrast, others believe it will not affect overall merit and that PMC should reconduct the test. A hashtag #mdcat2022 is being run on Twitter by students for three consecutive days, highlighting the mismanagement in MDCAT.
During a recent meeting, President of Pakistan Medical College, Dr. Naushad Ahmad Sheikh ordered all private and public medical and dental colleges to give marks to the students who attempted MDCAT for out-of-syllabus questions.
President PMC, Dr. Naushad Ahmad Sheikh, has assured students that they will get grace marks for all of the syllabus questions in MDCAT. He said that no student would be mistreated. Dr. Naushad also directed all medical and dental colleges to make proper arrangements outside test centers for parents of students who appear in MDCAT in the future. He asked the Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) to ensure the result of the MDCAT within a week.
He praised the performance of all employees of the Pakistan Medical Commission for holding the Medical and Dental Admission Test (MDCAT). The test was held in 55 different centers across Pakistan on Sunday, November 13. Around 8% of the total candidates of MDCAT remained absent during MDCAT.
