ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said all possible support will be provided to the business community of Pakistan and Malaysia to promote joint ventures in multiple fields.
He said both countries can cooperate in halal meat, information technology, electric vehicles, and semiconductors.
He made the remarks while addressing the Malaysia-Pakistan High-Level Business Dialogue, along with Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Islamabad.
Shehbaz Sharif encouraged the Pakistani business community to come forward, accept the challenge and take advantage of the huge trade potential between the two countries.
Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim in his remarks, said over 30 delegations from Malaysia have joined the occasion, showing their interest in business opportunities in Pakistan. He added a trade office of Malaysia is being opened in Karachi next month, which shows Pakistan’s seriousness in strengthening trade and investment.
Meanwhile, Pakistan and Malaysia have reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including economy, trade, investment, agriculture, tourism, education, and defence.
At a joint news conference in Islamabad today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, alongside Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, highlighted the extensive discussions held during their meeting.
He said that topics ranged from trade and investment opportunities to strategic and defence collaboration, as well as advancements in tourism, agriculture, semiconductors, green energy, skilled labor, and youth empowerment.
Prime Minister Sharif mentioned the potential export of Halal meat valued at $200 million annually, along with discussions on the sale of basmati rice. He assured his Malaysian counterpart that Pakistan is committed to maintaining high-quality standards in these exports.
