PM Shehbaz Visits Myanmar Embassy to Convey Condolences over Deadly Earthquake

Myanmar’s earthquake death toll has risen to more than 3,100.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday visited the Embassy of Myanmar to convey condolences in the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck the country on March 28, 2025.

He signed the condolence book, opened by the embassy, and expressed deepest condolences on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan to the government and people of Myanmar on the tragic loss of precious lives and widespread destruction caused by the earthquake.

Ambassador of Myanmar Wunna Han, on the occasion, thanked the Prime Minister for his visit and also for the relief goods provided by Pakistan for those affected by the earthquake in Myanmar.

Shehbaz Sharif also stressed that in this hour of grief, Pakistan stands with Myanmar in a spirit of friendship and compassion. He lauded the courage and resilience of the people of Myanmar in the face of adversity and expressed solidarity for their swift recovery and rebuilding in the days to come.

The 7.7 magnitude quake, one of the strongest to hit Myanmar in a century, jolted areas home to 28 million people, toppling buildings, flattening communities, and leaving many without food, water, and shelter. Myanmar’s government says the death toll has risen to more than 3,100.

It is worth mentioning that Pakistan has already dispatched 70 tons of relief goods to Myanmar. The essential supplies included tents, tarpaulins, blankets,  readymade food, medicines, and water modules.

Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif spoke with his Myanmar counterpart, expressing solidarity with the people of Myanmar and assuring them of all possible assistance in the wake of the disaster.
