ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif will chair the meeting of the federal cabinet today (Friday) in Islamabad, with a ‘three-point’ agenda up for discussion.

The PM House will serve as the venue for this crucial gathering, where the political and economic situation of the country will be discussed. One of the key items on the agenda is the approval of decisions made by the National Security Committee (NSC). The federal cabinet’s ratification of these decisions is an important step towards their implementation.

In addition, the meeting will go through the presentation regarding National Sports Policy for the period from 2022 to 2027. This policy will outline the government’s vision and strategies for the development and promotion of sports in the country.

The issue of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC) will also be discussed during the meeting. The PNSC is a state-owned enterprise responsible for managing and operating Pakistan’s national fleet of merchant ships.

The federal cabinet is likely to take a decision on the establishment of the military courts. Initially, the defense ministry has suggested the establishment of five military courts in Rawalpindi and Lahore to try the suspects arrested in connection with attacks on military installations on May 9, according to the sources. They further said that the cabinet members will be briefed on the Army and Official Secret Act by the defence and the law ministries.
