ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will participate in the 23rd Meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State in video conference format on Tuesday.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his capacity as the current Chair of the SCO, has invited the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to attend the meeting, state media reported on Monday.
During the meeting, the political leaders would deliberate on significant regional and international issues and chart out the future direction of cooperation among SCO member states.
SCO welcomes Iran
This year, the SCO Council of Heads of State will welcome Iran as a new member of the organization.
The Prime Minister’s participation in the meeting illustrates Pakistan’s high importance to the SCO as an important forum for regional security and prosperity and enhanced engagement with the region.
