PM Shehbaz Sharif Meets President IDB, Discusses Important Economic Issues

PARIS: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif met the President of Islamic Development Bank Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser on the sidelines of the New Global Financial Pact Summit in Paris, France on Friday, and discussed matters of cooperation and ongoing joint projects.

The two discussed the long-standing bilateral cooperation and engagement in detail. They took stock of the progress on different current projects and exchanged views on new avenues of collaboration, a press release issued by the PM House said.

The Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif extended his gratitude to Dr. Al Jasser for IsDB’s participation in the International Conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan organized in Geneva on 9 January this year. The Prime Minister commended IsDB’s announcementat in the Conference to provide $4.2 billion to assist Pakistan’s post floods recovery. He also lauded the personal contribution and great role of Dr. Al Jasser in making possible this huge volume of economic support.

Shehbaz Sharif hopeful for continued support

The premier hoped that IsDB’s valueable partnership with Pakistan would continue to help the people of Pakistan to rebuild their lives and livelihoods, and also assist in the sustainable development goals of the government.

He briefed Dr. Al Jasser on the recently established Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) to streamline foreign investments in Pakistan and provide a one window solution to solve all issues of foreign investors.

The PM also renewed the invitation to Al Jasser to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
