ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recommended 19 names to President Asif Ali Zardari for inclusion in the federal cabinet, who were subsequently sworn in at the Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday.”

Among the recommended individuals are prominent PML-N lawmakers including Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Rana Tanveer, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Jam Kamal Khan, Amir Muqam, Awais Leghari, and Attaullah Tarar. Additionally, the list includes Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui from MQM-P and Abdul Aleem Khan from the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party.

Senators Ishaq Dar and Musadik Malik have also been proposed for federal ministerial positions under clause 9 of Article 91 of the Constitution, as their Senate terms are set to conclude on March 12. This clause empowers the prime minister to appoint non-parliamentarians to the federal cabinet for a period of six months.

Cabinet Notification

Furthermore, the list includes three more individuals recommended for federal ministerial roles: Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahad Khan Cheema, and Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi.

Shaza Fatima stands out as the sole female nominee for inclusion in the federal cabinet, slated to assume the position of state minister under clause 1 of Article 92 of the Constitution, according to the summary.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has scheduled the inaugural meeting of the federal cabinet for 5pm today following the oath-taking ceremony. Upon assuming office, ministers will be allocated their respective portfolios.

This development marks a significant step in the formation of the new federal cabinet, signaling the government’s commitment to assembling a diverse and capable team to address the nation’s priorities.
