ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that 13-party PDM (Pakistan Democratic Movement) government was one of the unique in the history of the country, adding the outgoing government suffered lot of challenges being loaded by the previous PTI led government.
The Prime Minister said while addressing the last session of the National Assembly here in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The Premier started his speech by recalling that he was elected as the prime minister on April 11 with a lot of challenges. He thanked lawmakers seated on both sides of the aisle for showing confidence in him for the said tenure.
Political, economic challenges
The outgaining Prime Minister further said that the his government faced several political and economic challenges followed by difficulties during the 16-month-long brief tenure. “We had to bear the burden of the previous government’s failure and negligence.”
Shehbaz Sharif maintained that his government did “not send any political rival to jail or bothered them unfairly. This was never our practice.”
He explained that if the leader of a party (PTI Chairman Imran Khan) had been put behind bars, “we are not happy about it”. He also showed his displeasure over the distributing of sweets followed by celebration over the incident while adding that it was not a good tradition.
