RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday paid a poignant farewell visit to the General Headquarters (GHQ). Upon his arrival, the premier was warmly received by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir, ISPR said in a press release.
During his visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz met with the Principal Staff Officers (PSOs). The Prime Minister was honored with a Guard of Honour and subsequently laid a poignant floral wreath at the Yadgar-e-Shuhada, a poignant reminder of the indomitable spirit of those who have laid down their lives for the nation.
During the visit, the Prime Minister was the Chief Guest at a commemorative ceremony held at the Army Auditorium. The ceremony, organized to honor the Shuhadas (martyrs) and Ghazis (war heroes), provided a platform for Prime Minister Sharif to express profound admiration for their unwavering sacrifices and unwavering contributions to safeguarding the motherland.
In his address, PM Shehbaz lauded the unparalleled dedication of the Shuhadas, Ghazis, and their families, whose sacrifices have resonated deeply in the hearts of all Pakistanis. He commended the instrumental role played by the Armed Forces in ensuring the nation’s territorial integrity, as well as their resolute efforts in combating the pervasive threat of terrorism that has tested the nation’s resilience.
PM Shehbaz Says Shuhadas and Ghazis are Our Pride
“Shuhadas and Ghazis are our pride, and their respect and honor bind each Pakistani. We must never forget that the peace and freedom we enjoy today are owed to the ultimate sacrifices made by these valiant sons of the soil,” the Prime Minister said. He further underlined the collective responsibility to transform these sacrifices into a legacy of prosperity and well-being for every citizen, acknowledging the pivotal role of their sacrifices in shaping the nation’s trajectory.
Addressing those who have shown disrespect to the monuments of Shuhadas, Prime Minister Sharif delivered a resolute message: “Their faces will forever bear the mark of disgrace in the annals of our country’s history, and the resilient people of Pakistan will never forget their transgressions.”
On the occasion, the Prime Minister distributed special financial assistance to 70 families of martyrs and 30 War Wounded Persons. In addition, laptops were provided to the wards of Shuhadas, enabling them to pursue their academic aspirations with resilience and determination.
