ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has praised the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) for a “brilliant operation” that led to the arrest of Gulzar Imam, alias Shambay, the head and founder of the banned Baloch National Army.

“This operation speaks of the outstanding professionalism of our institutions. The arrest will help suppress militancy in Balochistan & usher in a new era of peace,” Sharif posted on his Twitter handle.

The ISPR stated in a press release earlier that the leading intelligence agency apprehended Gulzar Imam, alias Shambay, a hardcore militant and the founder and leader of the BNA, during a successful intelligence operation.
He was apprehended after a months-long operation in various geographical locations.
