ISLAMABAD / SHARM EL-SHEIKH: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday described the recently concluded Gaza Peace Summit in Egypt’s resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh as a “potentially transformational” step toward ending the suffering in Gaza, reaffirming Pakistan’s firm commitment to the Palestinian cause.
In a post on X before departing for Pakistan, Sharif said his country’s “most important priority was the immediate cessation of the genocidal campaign imposed on Gaza.”.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif concluded his two-day visit to Sharm el-Sheikh and left for Pakistan on Tuesday.
During the visit, the Prime Minister participated in the Gaza Peace Summit hosted in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
At the airport, Egypt’s Minister of Culture, Ahmed Fouad Hano, bid farewell to Prime Minister Sharif.
He added that Pakistan, along with “brotherly nations,” consistently emphasized this demand throughout the summit.
Sharif expressed gratitude to President Donald Trump, crediting him for his promise to stop the bloodshed.
“Our gratitude to President Trump is anchored in him promising that he would make it stop, and delivering on that promise. We will continue to express our admiration for President Trump’s unique contribution to peace,” wrote Sharif.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s long-standing Middle East policy, the prime minister said, the Palestinian people’s freedom, dignity and prosperity remain a primary concern for Pakistan.
“InshaAllah, the establishment of a strong and viable Palestinian state with pre-967 borders and Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital remains the bedrock of Pakistan’s Middle East policy and will remain so,”. Added Sharif.
