PM Shehbaz, Erdogan Review Bilateral Relations

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan have committed to strengthening their bilateral relations. Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at Vahdettin Mansion in Istanbul on November 25, 2022.

The two leaders had a one-on-one meeting, followed by bilateral talks.
During the discussion, the two sides discussed the relationship between the two countries, focusing on continued cooperation in various areas, including trade and investment, defense cooperation, education, and connection to health.

Expressing their satisfaction with the good state of collaboration going forward, they also agreed to take all necessary measures to maintain and strengthen the various cooperations.

While recognizing the huge untapped trade potential between the two countries, the two leaders reiterated their commitment to reaching $5 billion in trade within three years. In this regard, they agreed to carry out a strict monitoring process to implement the trade agreement signed in August 2022.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to strengthen cooperation in renewable energy, particularly solar energy.

Shehbaz Sharif also pointed out that although the two countries are celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of international relations this year, which will be remembered with respect, the brotherly bond between the two peoples has been around for hundreds of years, rooted in a common civilization, culture, and religion.

The Premier also expressed his deep feelings for the terrorist attack in Istanbul on November 13, 2022, and reiterated his support for Turkey’s fight against terrorism.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction with the growing defense cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey – including through cooperation and capacity building – and stressed the need to cooperate to build self-confidence in production security. He said that the approval of MILGEM corvettes for the Pakistan Navy is a big step in this direction.

While stressing the importance of High-Level Strategic Cooperation (HLSCC) as an important institutional framework to promote multi-faceted cooperation, the two leaders agreed to hold the seventh session of HLSCC on the date they agreed upon. In Islamabad.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan also spoke to the media during a joint press conference emphasizing their desire to forge a continuous and deep-rooted brotherly relationship between the two peoples.

The Pakistani Premier is visiting Turkey at the invitation of President Erdoğan to participate in the launch of the third batch of four MILGEM corvettes for the Pakistan Navy.

The relationship between Pakistan and Turkey is one of deep respect, involvement at the leadership level, and a full understanding of various global and regional issues.
