PM Shehbaz Directs Pakistan Embassy to Support Stranded Students in Bishkek

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday held a telephonic conversation with the Pakistani Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Hasan Ali Zaigham and expressed grave concern regarding the situation of Pakistani students in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

During the conversation, the premier ordered Pakistan’s Ambassador to extend all necessary assistance to the affected students. The Prime Minister’s Office is actively coordinating with the Embassy and closely monitoring developments.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the Ambassador to personally visit hostels and meet with the students and provide comprehensive support to them while maintaining regular communication with their parents to ensure they receive timely updates. Furthermore, the Prime Minister instructed the embassy to arrange medical assistance for the injured students and facilitate those wishing to return to Pakistan, with the government bearing the associated costs.

Assuring personal oversight of the situation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif affirmed that Pakistani students would not be left alone in this challenging time, and the government is actively engaging with Kyrgyz authorities.

The Ambassador assured the Prime Minister that no Pakistani casualties were reported, and the embassy is actively assisting the injured students.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the safety of its students in Kyrgyzstan. The Ambassador has been directed to provide full support to the students, addressing their concerns and queries promptly.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani Embassy in Kyrgyzstan has advised students to remain indoors amidst ongoing violence and has established helpline numbers for emergency assistance. Ambassador Hasan Zaigham reiterated the embassy’s commitment to working with local authorities to safeguard Pakistani students.
