LAHORE: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to ensure the security and administrative affairs of Islamabad are managed with the utmost efficiency.

According to a press release from the PM House’s Media Wing, the directive was issued during a meeting on Saturday where the Interior Minister briefed the Prime Minister on the country’s overall security situation.

The discussion also included a detailed overview of the current administrative and security affairs in   Islamabad. The Prime Minister directed Naqvi to address matters related to the capital with professionalism.

Separately, the Prime Minister’s office confirmed that Minister Mohsin Naqvi is scheduled to undertake an official visit to Sri Lanka in the coming days.

During the visit, he will deliver a special message from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to the Sri Lankan President and Prime Minister, further solidifying bilateral diplomatic ties between the two nations.

Islamabad has been rattled by two major suicide attacks in recent months. The deadliest occurred on February 6, when a suicide bomber struck an imambargah during Friday prayers, killing 36 people and wounding over 150 others.

That attack followed an earlier bombing in November, in which a blast outside a district and sessions court in the G-11 sector of the capital claimed 12 lives and left more than 30 injured.

On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari met at the Presidency to review the political and security landscape.
