LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered an inquiry into the tragic boat capsize incident in the Mediterranean Sea near Greece.
The prime minister has directed authorities to tighten the noose around those involved in human trafficking and take immediate action against them.
Expressing deep sorrow and grief over the loss of Pakistanis in the unfortunate incident, Prime Minister Sharif has extended his heartfelt condolences to the families affected by this tragedy. “The entire nation stands in solidarity with them during this difficult time,” he said.

In light of the prime minister’s instructions, law enforcement agencies have been directed to identify and apprehend human traffickers who lure innocent people into dangerous actions, endangering their lives.
Prime Minister Sharif has called for swift punishment for those responsible.
To ensure the provision of information and support for the victims and their families, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has appointed DIG Alam Shinwari as the focal person. His role will be to assist the families of those who were killed or injured in the incident and provide them with the necessary information and assistance.
The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has also appointed a focal person to establish contact with the Embassy of Pakistan and Greek authorities. This step is aimed at obtaining detailed information regarding the deceased and injured individuals.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Sharif has directed the Pakistan embassy in Greece to take immediate and comprehensive care of the 12 Pakistani nationals who were fortunate enough to be rescued from the capsized boat. Their welfare and well-being are of utmost importance and must be ensured during this challenging time.
