ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has issued directives to expedite aid distribution to victims of recent stormy rains and ensure transparency in the process.

In a meeting held in Islamabad on Tuesday, Prime Minister Sharif emphasized the importance of swift and transparent assistance to those affected by the recent adverse weather conditions.

He instructed the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to collaborate closely with provincial authorities to complete a joint survey promptly, assessing the extent of damage caused by the storms.

This joint survey is crucial for verifying fully and partially destroyed houses, enabling targeted aid delivery to affected beneficiaries.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Sharif underscored the need for enhanced cooperation between NDMA and provincial governments in preparing for and responding to natural calamities.

He directed NDMA to submit a comprehensive report on the implementation of previous instructions aimed at strengthening the agency’s technical capacity. This reflects the government’s commitment to improving disaster preparedness and response mechanisms across the country.

During the meeting, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Establishment Ahad Khan Cheema, Chairman of NDMA Lt. Gen. Inam Haider Malik, and other senior officials provided updates on relief operations and the distribution of aid.

Notably, the NDMA outlined plans for distributing dry ration to affected areas, including Gwadar and Quetta, with a focus on ensuring timely assistance to those in need.

In addition to addressing domestic relief efforts, Prime Minister Sharif also highlighted NDMA’s assistance to victims of the Gaza conflict. Since October, NDMA has sent 320 tons of relief goods to Gaza, demonstrating Pakistan’s commitment to international humanitarian efforts.

Overall, Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif’s directives underscore the government’s dedication to alleviating the suffering of storm victims and enhancing disaster resilience across Pakistan.
