PM Kakar’s Diplomatic Outreach at COP28 Strengthens Bilateral Ties

ISLAMABAD: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar returned home Monday after representing Pakistan at the 28th Conference of Parties (COP28) of the United Nations.

The Prime Minister’s departure from Al Maktoum International Airport in Dubai was marked by a send-off from UAE Minister of State for Government Development and Future, Ms. Ahud Bint Khalfan Al Roumi, the UAE Ambassador to Pakistan, and Pakistani diplomatic staff.

During COP28, Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar led the Pakistani delegation and actively participated in the World Climate Action Summit.

He presented Pakistan’s national narrative on climate change, including the country’s stance on environmental challenges. Additionally, the Prime Minister engaged in the Global Stock Tech Round Table Discussion, contributing to the international discourse on climate issues.

On the sidelines of the conference, Prime Minister Kakar held meetings with several world leaders, including the Presidents of Sri Lanka and the Maldives, and the Prime Ministers of the Netherlands, Estonia, and Syria.

Notably, he also had discussions with Bill Gates, Co-Chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

As part of his activities at COP28, the Prime Minister visited the Co-op 28 Pakistan Pavilion, participated in an event focusing on the Living Indus Initiative, and met with Pakistani female students honoured with the Zayed Sustainability Prize.

Throughout COP28, Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar took the opportunity to address various aspects, including Pakistan’s stance on climate change, internal affairs, external affairs, as well as regional and global issues. He conducted interviews with international media, providing insights into Pakistan’s perspectives on critical matters.

Upon his return to Pakistan, the Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Gwadar, where he will inaugurate the China-Pakistan Friendship Hospital and a sea water desalination plant, further emphasizing the nation’s commitment to development and sustainability initiatives.
