Planet’s Future Depends on Addressing Climate Change Issue, Shazia Marri

MADRID: Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Shazia Marri said on Sunday that the future of planet completely depends on addressing the issue of climate change.

Addressing the 26th Socialist International Congress in Madrid, Spain, the minister highlighted the devastating impact of climate change in Pakistan. She also expressed solidarity with children and women affected by conflicts and wars globally.

She talked about the worse condition of innocent people of Illegally Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine, who are facing the brutalities of India and Israel respectively.

Marri said that the climate change inundated Pakistan this summer and badly affected swathes of the country and a number of people. She said that over 33 million people have been affected by flash-floods, including 650 thousand pregnant women and about four million children.

She said that the climate change was probably the biggest threat faced by the planet and human beings. The scourge of climate change is continuously bringing havoc across the world.

Marri urges seriousness to deal with climate change

Marri further said that climate change had become a startling reality. She stressed the world community to show seriousness and work to effectively deal with it. She said that climate change was not only an environmental issue but is has also endangered the agriculture, livelihood, health, peace and security and economy across the world.
